Lee Roy Selmon blends the advantages of a scholarship to football in his family with the benefits of community service. He is the youngest child from Lucious Selmon, and Jessie Selmon, who raised him on their farm in Eufala. The Selmons were also among the three siblings who represented Oklahoma on the field of football. All three brothers were All-Americans. One year 1973 Lucious Jr. Dewey and Lee Roy were starters. Lee Roy won the Outland and Lombardi Awards as the nation's most effective lineman. In his time as Oklahoma's starting quarterback and Sooners' starting quarterback, they went 32-1-1 and won two national titles. In 1975, Selmon was awarded his third scholarship, and was named a National Football Foundation scholar-athlete. Selmon received a diploma in education. Lee Roy was involved in volunteering for ten hours per week during his time at college. After graduating Lee Roy relocating to Tampa and spent the next 9 years with Tampa's Buccaneers. Three times, he was named an All-Pro. Then he began his business career. By 1988, he became an Account Relation Officer for Tampa's First Florida Bank. He was also involved with these organizations: Special Olympics Easter Seals Baptist Church Ronald McDonald House United Negro College Fund South Florida Institute Black Life Hall of Fame Bowl Committee. In 1982 the Junior Chamber of Commerce recognized Lee Roy as being among Ten of America's top young males. As a student, Lee Roy was 6-2 and weighed about 256 pounds. He was captain of his college team in 1975. In 1993 he was appointed assistant director of the University of South Florida. In 1993, the College Football Hall of Fame named him in 1988. GTE Academic All-America Hall of Fame in 1994. Pro Football Hall of Fame In 1995. In 1989 The Oklahoma City Chapter National Football Foundation gave their Distinguished American Award Mr. Lucious Sr. Henry Bellmon is the Oklahoma governor, who presented this award.
